300 Artesian Wells to Be Drilled
President Ilham Aliyev has ordered to allocate AZN 21.5 million from the Reserve Fund of the President in the state budget for 2014 for the drilling of artesian wells. This is the second such decision this year.
According to the document, the State Irrigation and Water Management will receive 19.5 million manat to drill 300 artesian wells in 241 villages in 34 districts of the country. In addition, for the same purpose the Cabinet of Ministers of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was allocated 2 million manat. How many wells they will drill in this autonomous republic has not been reported. Water from these wells will be used both for irrigation of acreage farms and gardens, as well as for the needs of drinking water.
Recall that in January this year AZN 15 million was allocated in jJanuary this year to drill 250 artesian wells in 223 villages. In 2013, also at the expense of the state budget, 107 wells were drilled in 104 villages and towns.
Experts believe that the funds for these needs should not be allocated by individual orders of the President, and should be provided in the public investment program. --08B--
