30,000 New Jobs Opened on Paper
The State Statistics Committee reported that in the first quarter of this year more than 30 thousand new jobs were opened in Azerbaijan, of which 25 thousand are permanent. Roughly similar figures were released at the first three months of 2014.
The bulk of the new jobs (79.2%) are individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activities without creating a legal entity. Obtaining identification numbers for such taxpayers is in a few minutes. According to SSC, 11.2% of new jobs were created in newly created enterprises, 9.1% - in restored enterprises and organizations. At the same time, 22.3% of new jobs opened in the public sector and 68.6% - in the regions.
It is noteworthy that, according to the same source, in the first quarter of this year, the number of employees in the country decreased by 9.1 thousand people.
The government says about 5% level of unemployment in Azerbaijan. The official status of the unemployed in Azerbaijan by May 1 of this year belonged to 29 150 people.
On the third State Program on socio-economic development of the regions, 157,500 new jobs were created from 1st January 2014, of which 130,000 are permanent. Independent experts call these numbers propaganda and believe that the real unemployment rate is measured in double digits. 08D
