Airline Wizz Air will return to Azerbaijan
President Ilham Aliyev instructed the government to create conditions for the return of low-cost airline Wizz Air to return to Azerbaijan, said the Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Economy Shahin Mustafayev at a meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto located in Budapest. Earlier this airline was "asked" to leave Azerbaijan, as it repulsed customers of the monopolist - the state company "Azal".
It is expected that in the coming days, the company will resume direct flights from Baku to Budapest. The cost of a one-way ticket should reach 49.99 euros. Wizz Air launched flights from Budapest to Baku in June 2013.
Wizz Air’s decision to return to Azerbaijan was dictated not by the care about passengers, but by the fact that during the period of unstable oil prices and flagging manat, the authorities finally realized that it is necessary to develop tourism, experts say.
Head of the "positive changes" Bakhtiyar Hajiyev believes that airspace should be allowed other low-cost airlines like Pegasus, AtlasJet, OnurAir, whose prices are by 3-4 times cheaper "Azal" , and other large companies.
"Let them fly not only in Baku, but also other airports of the country, otherwise our citizens will fly abroad from Tbilisi," he said. -08В-
