AZAL has not recovered positions lost as result of pandemic
Baku/24.06.22/Turan: Azerbaijani Airlines carried 610.400 passengers on local and international airlines during the five months of this year which is up by 2.6 times from the same period in 2021.
This notwithstanding, no positions in the airspace, lost as a result of restrictive measures that were applied since March 2020, have so far been restored. For comparison, in the five months of 2019, some 856,200 passengers used the services of Azerbaijan Airlines (CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines and ASG Business Aviation), according to the State Statistics Committee. That is, the Airlines lacked 254,800 passengers to reach the level of three years ago. This year AZAL accounts for 99.8% of passengers, ASG Business Aviation - 0.2% of passengers.
In terms of the rise in passenger traffic, the prices for air tickets are also increasing. According to the SSC, as compared to the same period of 2021 only for five months the prices for airline tickets rose by an average of 12.1%, and in January-May 2021 airline tickets prices were inflated by 33.6%.
It should be added that the land borders of Azerbaijan with neighboring countries are closed by the decision of the Operational Headquarters under the government. Citizens are forced to use the services of local and foreign airlines to travel abroad and in the opposite direction. -08B-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met today with Ahmed Moallim Figi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. This meeting followed a discussion held the previous day between Figi and Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov.
