Azerbaijan and Turkey Advance Cross-Border Transport Cooperation with E-Permit Integration

The Serbian gas company Srbijagas, SOCAR, and Serbia's energy authorities met in Belgrade to discuss the construction of a gas power plant near the city of Niš, which could operate on Azerbaijani gas.

In an interview with Dmitry Kiselev, General Director of Russia Today, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev outlined a significant upward revision in the country's hydrocarbon reserves and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to advancing renewable energy projects. The conversation, aired on the "Russia-1" TV channel, spotlighted Azerbaijan's dual strategy of leveraging its hydrocarbon wealth while building a robust renewable energy sector.

According to the State Statistics Committee, Azerbaijan's retail and service market demonstrated robust performance in the first eleven months of 2024. The total volume of goods and services sold reached AZN 67.4 billion, a 4.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Azerbaijan’s crude oil and petroleum exports fell sharply in the first eleven months of 2024, reflecting both a decline in volume and a significant drop in export value. The State Customs Committee (SCC) reported that the country exported 21.56 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products during this period, marking a 10.92% decrease compared to the same period in 2023. The total export value also declined to $13.3 billion, down from $15.1 billion in the previous year.
