In a landmark visit, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) engaged in talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, resulting in the signing of a comprehensive package of agreements aimed at fostering strategic collaboration between the two nations.
Among the key agreements inked during the visit, Azerbaijan and the UAE formalized a memorandum of understanding on strategic partnership, underscoring the commitment to deepen their multifaceted cooperation. Additionally, a pivotal agreement on strategic cooperation was forged between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), setting the stage for collaborative ventures in the energy sector.
The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Investments of the UAE solidified their commitment to investment cooperation on electricity transmission projects through a memorandum of understanding. This move exemplifies the shared vision to enhance energy infrastructure and build a robust foundation for mutual growth.
Further consolidating their commitment to sustainable practices, a framework agreement on strategic cooperation was signed, focusing on maximizing Azerbaijan's renewable and clean energy potential. The agreement outlines plans for green energy export operations and the collaborative construction of 1 gigawatt solar and wind power plants onshore in Azerbaijan.
The collaborative spirit extended to various sectors, with the Ministries of Finance of Azerbaijan and the UAE signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. Environmental stewardship was emphasized as the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE signed a protocol of intent.
Educational and diplomatic ties were also bolstered during the visit, as ADA University and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy entered into a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, paving the way for enhanced academic and diplomatic exchanges.
President Aliyev expressed confidence that these agreements would serve as a solid foundation for future cooperation, emphasizing the multifaceted nature of the collaboration, particularly in the energy sector, where significant strides have been made, especially in the realm of green energy.
