Azerbaijan Applies Incentives for Protection of Green Spaces
The Cabinet approved on November 2, forms and rules of economic incentives in the field of protection of green spaces.
The rules are developed in compliance with the law "On protection of green space" and provide a mechanism for the promotion of the economic protection of green spaces except for forest lands and specially protected natural territories and objects of private household farms and farmland.
These measures are aimed at promoting economic landing, recovery and expansion of green spaces.
The source of funding for the promotion in the field of green spaces is non-budgetary funds of structures financed from the state budget, and in other organizations it is proceeds from their own activities. The source of economic promotion is also local budgets, ecological sections of construction projects, financial assistance to citizens, companies, local and international donors.
Forms of economic promotion are the following: the award of diplomas, cash and prizes, free provision of necessary equipment for the implementation of activities on irrigation and protection of trees and shrubs.
It is planned to hold competitions for the dissemination of experience in the protection of green spaces.
Measures of economic promotion are taken by municipalities, bodies of central and local executive authorities, which form a committee with the involvement of civil society representatives. Subjects encouraged include citizens, legal entities, and those involved in this work.
Economic promotion is applied depending on the results of the evaluation of green space protection measures annually in September.
Businesses and organizations are awarded a one-time monetary award of fivefold the minimum salary (550 manat), people directly involved in work - at a rate of twice the salary, citizens - 800 manat on tree care. On other greenery the prize for citizens is 400 manat. If the protection of green spaces is carried out within 5 years, the company and the citizens will receive an additional premium in the amount of AZN 1,500. ----08D

According to consumer complaints, it is difficult to find weight information on factory-produced bread, commonly known as "zavod çörəyi" in Azerbaijan. In many cases, bread packaging does not include weight details. Similarly, bread sold at smaller bakeries and tandir houses often lacks information apart from the price.

A trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers, transport ministers, energy ministers, and heads of customs services of Russia, Iran, and Azerbaijan is set to take place soon to discuss the progress of the Rasht-Astara railway project, a key element of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
