Buta Airways

Baku / 11.07.17 / Turan: From now on - on June 11, the sale of low-cost airline tickets Buta Airways started. The airline's website noted that Buta Airways is the first low-budget airline in Azerbaijan. It is a structural subdivision of Azerbaijan Hava Yollari CJSC - AZAL.

The first flight of the airline is scheduled for September 1 to Tbilisi. The company will also carry out flights from Baku to Moscow, Kiev, Antalya, Kazan, Mineralnye Vody, Tbilisi and Tehran. With the onset of the winter season, Buta Airways will operate flights to Istanbul and St. Petersburg.

Buta Airways uses Embraer E190 and E170 aircraft. The minimum tariff for all directions is 29 euros.

With the start of Buta Airways activity, the low-budget AZAL Jet has ceased its activity. The sale of tickets for AZAL Jet has already been discontinued. The press service of AZAL reported that from now on only two state-owned aviation brands - AZAL and Buta Airways will operate in Azerbaijan.

Earlier AZAL stated that these two companies would operate in parallel. In December 2016, the press service of Radio Azadlig stated that Buta would be created within the framework of the Road Map on tourism.

AZAL Jet is a low-budget brand. Buta Airways will be a separate airline with its working staff, aircraft fleet and tariff policy. A similar policy can be observed in many airlines. For example, Anadolu Jet is a derivative of Turkish Airlines, Fly Dubai - of Emirates, and Russian Pobeda - of Aeroflot.

Background of AZAL Jet and Buta Airways

The creation of AZAL Jet started in early 2016. In February of the same year, AZAL President Jahangir Askerov announced plans to create a new brand AZAL Jet, which would carry out flights in low-budget areas. At the same time, Jahangir Askerov stated the following: "This business model provides for the savings of some services. This makes it possible to significantly reduce prices in comparison with classical airlines. Along with this, we guarantee safety and high level of service on all flights of Azerbaijan"s air transportation."

Flights under the brand AZAL Jet began on March 28 of the same year.

In December 2016, the government promulgated the Strategic Road Map On the Development of a Specialized Tourism Industry in Azerbaijan. In this map, it was planned to create a new low-budget airline, Buta Airways. -0-
