Exchange Trade in 2014 Decreased by 3.7%
In 2014, the volume of trading in government and corporate securities at the Baku Stock Exchange was 8 158.5 million manat, which is 3.7% less than in the previous year. The negative dynamics is associated with a twofold reduction in repo transactions on government securities, according to the market.
Last year, the turnover of corporate securities (4 001.9 million AZN) first approached the volume of transactions in state securities (4 156.6 million AZN). This happened due to the reduction of repo operations on the Central Bank notes of 3 billion manat and allocation of stocks and bonds by public companies, as well as continued growth in the turnover of the secondary bonds of the Mortgage Fund.
In 2014, the Ministry of Finance placed bonds in the amount of 80.3 million manat (-18.1%) in 31 deals. CBA also posted notes in the amount of 158 million manat in 58 transactions that is 47.3% less than in 2013.
The volume of placement of corporate bonds (2,165 million manat) increased by 14 times. It's basically the securities of JSC Southern Gas Corridor, as well as financial companies.
Secondary turnover of shares on the stock exchange amounted to 19.6 million manat, which is 8.6% less than in the previous year.
Total in 2014 on the stock exchange, there were recorded 6,277 transactions, which is 27% higher than a year earlier. In this case, 93.2% of the transactions were concluded in the secondary market of shares.
