Exports of Agricultural Products Increased by 26.2%
In the first quarter of 2016 Azerbaijan increased exports of agricultural products by 26.2%. At the same time export of vegetables increased by 4.5 times, the Ministry of Agriculture told Turan.
13,513 tons of vegetables were exported in the three months, which is 10.6 thousand tons higher than in the same period of 2015. The geography of the export is not reported, although it is known that greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes are shipped mainly to Russia. Vegetable exports brought $ 14.1 million (+4.9 times).
Unlike vegetables, fruit export (18,637 tons) decreased by 18.9%.
The export performance of tobacco growers improved. In the first quarter, foreign tobacco companies were sold 860 tons of fermented tobacco (+ 61.2%). A ton of tobacco was sold for $ 4,245 (+ 14.1%).
Since the beginning of the year 3,967 tons of cotton was exported, 3,053 tons more than in January-March 2015. A ton of cotton was sold abroad for $ 1,495, 13.1% less than last year.
In the three months of the year, exports of agricultural products (including leather products) amounted to $ 54.2 million, increasing by $ 11.2 million. ----08B
