Exports of Salt to Georgia Declined Sharply
In the first nine months of this year the declared exports of iodized salt were 1,427.1 tons, which is equal to one third of the figure for the same period in 2014. All the goods, as last year, were sent to Georgia.
According to the State Customs Committee (SCC), salt is exported at $ 0.14 per 1 kg. Azerbaijan meets the need for table salt by imports. Imported salt is registered in the Azerbaijani customs at $ 0.12 / kg.
According to the observations of the State Statistics Committee, a kilogram of table salt of local production was worth 43 gepiks ($ 0.55) at retail in January, and in October it rose to 56 gepiks. In October the average cost of imported salt was 55 gepiks instead of 41 gepiks in January.
According to the State Customs Committee, in January-September there was imported 8,351.3 tons of white salt, which is 16.8% less than in the same period in 2014. Salt is imported from Russia (1,700 tons), Ukraine (1,623 tons), Turkey (49.4 tons), etc.
According to the register of certificates of quality, salt is imported by three individuals, as well as LLC Lavanda and the joint venture Dincer and Carcioglu.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in the first nine months of this year the volume of production of edible iodized salt was about 25 thousand tons, 19.8% more than in the same period last year.
The amount of dietary salt consumption in Azerbaijan in 2014 increased by 3.8% and amounted to 92.2 thousand tons.
According to the food balance, in 2014, Azerbaijan produced 67.2 thousand tons of salt, which is 13% higher than the figure for 2013.
Imported from abroad was 15,930 tons of salt. This is 3.8% less than in 2013. ----08B

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
