How many percent in TANAP project SOCAR is going to sell?
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) considers sale of part of its share in the trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) to other companies, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists in Sumgait on July 4.
SOCAR President said nothing else to the media representatives and even did not say if the talks with possible candidates have been started.
SOCAR's President's statement is not news for the society. On April 4, 2012 SOCAR President told journalists that "SOCAR is going to sell part of its share in the TANAP pipeline project." It became clear from his statement that "BP and Statoil have already offered to join the project." Abdullayev also said that SOCAR is going to operate the pipeline.
Later on it was announced that French Total company is also intersested in TANAP project. In September 2011 the company discovered Absheron gas condensate field with minimum resources of 150-300 billion cub.m.
Ukraine asked Azerbaijani officials to provide them a share in TANAP project as well. Abdullayev said share could be provided to the companies, which have real gas resources in the Caspian Sea and are potential suppliers to the European consumers.
Judging by all, during the past time nothing has changed in SOCAR's attitude towards the future TANAP partners. One can suppose that SOCAR could sell up to 50% of its current share to other companies. The companies will be its partners in the Shah-Deniz and Absheron gas projects.
* SOCAR owns 80% share in TANAP project and Turkish TPAO and BOTAS state companies have 10% each in the project.-0---
