Ilham Aliyev visited Shahdag ski area and opened the way to Lyaza
On December 20, President Ilham Aliyev arrived in the Gusar region, where a ski resort is built on the slopes of Shakhdag Mountain (4,245 m).
The opening of the hotel Gaya, which is included in this complex, was held yesterday.
Future phases of the project include construction of cable cars, a golf course, clubs, small hotels, guesthouses, and a horse farm.
Construction work on the first stage of the Shakhdag complex is publicly funded, and development control is provided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Ilham Aliyev skied and his wife enjoyed motor skis.
Next the Aliyevs inspected the construction of the hotel Shahdag Resort SPA, which has 173 rooms, including eight "luxury" rooms and three VIP rooms. The hotel will have eight restaurants and three meeting rooms.
In addition to the SPA-center in the hotel, there will be a fitness room, massage rooms, and a Turkish bath. Construction is 70% complete. Full project completion is expected in late 2013. The cost of the project, according to unofficial reports, is 60 million euros.
During the visit to the ski resort, the new road Gusar-Lyaza was opened. The length of the two-lane road is 39 km, and the width is 8 meters. Eight bridges were built on the road. -02D-
