Import of Mobile Phones Decreased
In 2014, Azerbaijan officially (with customs declaration) imported 88.6 thousand mobile phones and so on wireless communication. This is 6.4% less than in 2013, the State Statistics Committee.
In the recent past (2012) from abroad there were delivered more mobile phones - 187.5 thousand. The State Customs Committee reports periodically on the suppression of the illegal import of mobile phones.
Reduction of import may be related to the fact that more and more, because of the high price of phones in Azerbaijan, those leaving for foreign countries often acquire analogues of mobile phones for personal use at lower prices. But their imports are not attracted to the customs tax. In recent years, attracting the attention of consumers are cheap brand Chinese phones that a variety of online stores offer. Accounting of phones imported in a single form for personal use is not conducted by the customs.
According to the SSC, the import of mobile phones in 2014 cost $ 5 million 134.5 thousand manat, which was 22.4% more than in 2013.
As of 1 January 2015 in Azerbaijan the number of mobile telecom subscribers reached 10,101.9 thousand people. This is 3.9% more than in 2013. For every 100 people there are 107 (+2) mobile phones.
Revenues of mobile operators in 2014 amounted to 710.5 million manat, 6.4% more than in the previous year. --08B--
