In October oil export from Kazakhstan to China via pipeline broke record
Last year 1.23 million tons of oil a month was transported from Kazakhstan to China via the trans-border oil pipeline, reported Platts quoting the data of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) state company.
The deliveries increased by 26.8% against September 2013.
Kazakhstan oil deliveries to China via the Atyrau-Atasy-Alashankou pipeline started in July 2006. Since that time a total of 61 million tons of oil was pumped via the pipeline, reported CNPC.
Kazakhstan oil is mainly delivered to the oil refineries in Dushantsi province (Sinzan-Uigur autonomous region). The oil refinery with the capacity of 10 million tons of oil a year is owned by CNPC daughter company PetroChina.
At present carrying capacity of the Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline is 12 million tons of oil a year. By the end of this year it is planned to increase the annual carrying capacity on the Atasu-Alashankou section up to 20 million tons of oil by putting into operation two additional compressor stations.
Kazakhstan authorities claim that total capacity of the Atyrau-Alashankou oil pipeline must reach 20 million tons of oil a year by 2015.
From January to September 2013 oil deliveries from Kazakhstan to China totaled 8.73 million tons, which is equal to last year’s index.
CNPC owns 50% of the oil pipeline. At present the pipeline is not used at full capacity, reported http://oilru.com.--0--
