
In the gas field Shah Deniz resumed production
On the evening of Aug.23, BP resumed natural gas production at the Shah Deniz largest gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, stopped earlier due to maintenance work on the platform, head of the press service of the BP-Azerbaijan company Tamam Bayatli told.
The work on the platform was suspended on August 2, 2015 in order to carry out scheduled maintenance.
The contract for development of the Shah Deniz offshore field, which has proven reserves of 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas, was signed on June 4, 1996.
Participants in the Shah Deniz field development are the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) with a share of 16.7 percent, British BP (28.8 percent), Turkish TPAO (19 percent), Malaysian`s Petronas (15,5 percent), Iran's NICO (10 percent), Russia's Lukoil (10 percent). –12В--

The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has been declining in recent years, as reflected in reports by international rating agencies and the company’s own financial statements. SOCAR’s financial report for 2024 is expected in the summer of 2025, but preliminary data from Fitch Ratings indicates a further decline in the figure.
