Known Bidders for Manufacture and Launch of Azerspace-2
Documents on the creation of a second national telecommunications satellite Azerspace-2 are in the development stage. The day before, according to the Ministry of Communications and High-Tech, its subordinate Azercosmos conducted a tender procedure for a contract to manufacture and launch it.
"Proposals to tender were filed by Airbus Defence and Space (France), Orbital ATK Space and Systems Loral (both USA), and China Great Wall Industry Corporation (China). Results of the tender will be announced in mid-year. Satellite launch is planned for 2017," the media reported. Recall that the manufacture and launch of the first satellite was entrusted to the French and the Americans.
The tender procedure will be held until the end of April, and an agreement to lease resources Azerspace-2 has been signed with Intelsat.
According to the plan of government bodies, the area of ??broadcasting the second satellite will include Europe, Central and South-West Asia, the Middle East and tropical Africa. --17D-
