Launching Azerispace-2 Assigned to Azerkosmos and Intelsat
JSC Azerkosmos and the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization Intelsat agreed to launch a second telecommunications satellite Azerispace-2 at the orbital position of 45 degrees east longitude.
"Thus, Azerkosmos received an orbital position for the second telecommunications satellite, which will play an important role in meeting the needs of countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa located to the south of the Sahara desert", the released information reads.
The parties within two years will design Azerispace-2 and use the capabilities and experience of each other on the stages of production and control of the satellite, which "will offer strong technical capability, wide coverage and high-quality services to meet the growing demand for DTH in the regions, state-owned enterprises and services in the communications sector as a whole. "
In addition, the new satellite will be a reserve for an orbiting satellite Azerispace -1 and allow Azerkosmos to provide customers with more reliable services and expand the area of its operations. Recall the launch of Azerispace-2 into orbit is scheduled for 2017.
The first telecommunications satellite Azerspace-1 was launched February 9, 2013 from Kourou, French Guiana. The government expects to receive $ 420 million as net profit from its operation. --17D
