Maximum gas production rate registered on Stage-1 project
The highest gas production rate has been registered on the Stage-1 project of development of gas condensate field Shah-Deniz since putting the field into operation.
Tamam Bayatly, BP-Azerbaijan (project operator) Public Relations Manager, told Turan that after resuming operation of the second well, which stood idle for two weeks for technical reasons, production constantly grew and by December 24, 2012 it reached 966 million cub. feet (over 27 million cub.m.). Such a productivity has never been registered on the Shah-Deniz 1 platform before.
During the winter season gas consumption grows and production increases and this is the reason of a high productivity of the Stage-1 project. BP reported that the wells have a very good production rate and over 1.5 billion cub.m. of gas a year is extracted from one well.
At present gas is extracted from five operation wells. Earlier maximum production on the platform and gas refining on the Sangachal gas terminal did not exceed 900 million cub. feet a day.
Of the extracted gas about 12 million cub.m. is purchased by Azerbaijan and over 15 million cub.m. is exported.
* The Shah-Deniz project partners are BP (operator -25.5%), Statoil (25.5%), SOCAR (10%), LUKoil - 10%, NICO (10%), Total (10%) and TPAO (9%).-0-
