Minister of Taxes Dissatisfied with Level of Combat with Illegal Business Activities
The Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov is dissatisfied with the Department for Preliminary Investigation of Tax Crimes.
At the Board meeting Mammadov criticized the relevant structures of the Department in connection with the unsatisfactory level of the fight against illegal entrepreneurship and tax evasion in an organized manner.
The Minister said the structure of operational control in some cases is limited to acts in relation to small-scale entrepreneurs, considering their job done.
Mammadov ordered to punish the guilty employees, including termination of employment. The Minister instructed the Chief Department of Internal Security and the Apparatus of the Ministry to take urgent measures to control the discipline of execution and increase the effectiveness of coordination between the agencies.
By the decision of the Board, for the purpose of full implementation of the budget revenues structural changes were made, including the establishment of the relevant division at the Department for Preliminary Investigation of Tax Crimes and the establishment of a division to combat illegal business in the Department for Organized Crime in the Economic Sphere.
Experts believe that the Minister’s statement is connected with the approaching end of the year when they should fulfill the budgetary obligations and after his orders the tax inspectors will further strengthen their pressure on small business, which is already going through its tough times. ----71D
