Over one- third of restaurants concentrated in Baku
Number of catering facilities in Azerbaijan in 2012 increased by 3.9 % and exceeded 9.5 thousand units. At the same time more than one third of cafes and restaurants in the country are concentrated in Baku (3,848), the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
Since 2007, in Baku appeared 347 new homes celebrations, cafes and restaurants. In the whole country during this period there were registered 1,857 new catering facilities.
High growth rate (20.6 %) of the number of catering facilities last year reached Guba -Khachmaz economic region . In total, over the last six years in this fast-growing tourist region of the country the number of cafes and restaurants has doubled and reached at the beginning of this year, 380 objects. For comparison, in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, where entrepreneurs complain of pressure from the autocratic leadership, during this period there were established 57 such institutions.
Total one-time capacity of catering facilities in the country is 326.9 thousand people. This is 6.3% more than in 2011 (307.4 million) and 2.2 times higher than in 2003 (143.4 million). Statistics show that the increase in the number of cafes and restaurants in Azerbaijan began in 2003 in the so-called period of "big oil".
According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2012 the volume of services in the catering facilities amounted to 680 million (20.2 %). It is not no secret that in cafes and restaurants customers are not issued cashier's checks, and recorded on a paper bill. Therefore , the actual turnover of the catering sector is not known , although the State Statistics Committee reports that in 2013 the sector's turnover has grown at exactly 20 times . - 08B-
