Russian president Putin would like to prevent TANAP construction
Russian President Vladimir Putin does not rule out that Russia and Turkey will fund an agreement to expand Blue Stream gas pipeline to make deliveries to the markets of the third countries.
"We should not forget that Blue Stream has been working and we deliver 16 billion cub.m. of gas via the pipeline directly to Turkey," Putin told journalists.
"I do not rule out that we will be able to find an agreement with our Turkish colleagues to expand Blue Stream capacities to reach the markets of the third countries," Russian President added.
Russian sources reported that if Russia reaches an agreement with Turkey to deliver gas to the third countries' markets, then Gasprom will be able to deliver about 2.8 billion cub.m. of gas a year to Greece via the Blue Stream.
Carrying capacity of this pipeline is 16 billion cub.m. If another branch of the pipeline is built, then Russia will be a serious competitor of TANAP. The Turkish government has already requested Russia to increase gas deliveries to the Turkish local market from next year. On the other hand, Turkish football club Antalyasport has requested Russian has monopolist Gasprom to be its general sponsor.-0-
