Second Meeting of Azerbaijani- Tajik Intergovernmental Commission Held
On September 3 in Baku, the second meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan was held. The Tajik side was represented by the delegation led by the Minister of Land Reclamation and Water Resources Rahmat Bobokalonov.
The Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev provided information on the work done in the intervening period between the two countries in the fields of agriculture, energy, ICT and transport. According to him, several Azerbaijani products occupy a significant place in the Tajik market. Development of humanitarian and economic relations would also opening this year of a direct flight on the route Dushanbe-Baku- Dushanbe. In 2012, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 2.8 times.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed , providing for the development of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment, construction, agriculture , ICT, tourism, land reclamation , etc.
It is noteworthy that the data of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan have shown deterioration in bilateral trade last 7 months of 2013. During the reporting period this year, exports to Dushanbe were $ 4,172,000, which is 85 % less than in January- July 2012. Imports of goods were completely suspended.
