Second Stage of Building SHP
On the north-west of Azerbaijan in Sheki on November 17 there was opening of the second stage of a small hydroelectric power station on the river Kish in a joint project of the Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Development Programme with funding of the European Union and the Government of Norway.
A 580 kW power station was built with the participation of the Chinese company Hunan Allonvard, according to UNDP.
The project was implemented within the framework of the state program "Sustainable energy development in Azerbaijan." The government considers the creation of a network of small hydroelectric power plants (SHP) as the effective direction of energy. Mainly, eyes are to small mountain rivers of the Greater Caucasus, where there is a process of construction of SHP with small turbine generators of a capacity from 0.5 to 5 MW. They are cheap and do not require the construction of dams and hydroelectric complex. The water potential of Azerbaijan allows us to construct more than two hundred SHP with a total capacity of 700 MW. -0-

While the global economy faces persistent challenges, trade between China and Azerbaijan has defied downward trends, demonstrating significant growth. According to official statistics from Azerbaijan, bilateral trade in 2023 reached 3.1 billion US dollars. In just the first ten months of 2024, trade volume increased by 17.1% year-on-year, reaching 3.02 billion US dollars, putting the annual trade figure on track to hit a record high.
