Seventh Meeting of Azerbaijani- French Economic Commission
Today Baku hosted the seventh meeting of the current year with the Azerbaijani- French Economic Commission. Following the meeting, a protocol was signed, which provides for the expansion of trade and economic relations between the two countries at the level of governments and the private sector.
Azerbaijan is interested in deepening economic relations with French companies in various sectors, said at a press briefing after the meeting the Co-Chairman, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov . According to him, the parties are close to signing a contract for the second commercial launch into orbit a new telecommunications satellite. French companies are involved in the implementation of the state program for the modernization and development of the Baku Metro, safety management Airlines CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines. It is also offered to participate in the renewal of railway infrastructure, environmental projects in Baku. While France may grant loans and insurance guarantees on railway project, said Sharifov.
There is great potential for cooperation in the field of agriculture. French energy companies have expressed interest in expanding ties to supply gas to supply Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe. "For the first nine months of this year, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France amounted to $ 1.2 billion, which does not reflect the potential of trade relations. Preparing both the governmental and private levels, the project will increase this figure," the minister said.
Minister of Foreign Trade of France Nicole Brik , in turn, stressed the interest of the Government of France in expanding economic cooperation with Azerbaijan. French companies are offering their participation in the implementation of projects for rehabilitation of water, creating tram transport in the city of Ganja, the development of animal husbandry and dairy production.
Regular meeting of the Azerbaijani- French Economic Commission will be held next year. - 08C-
