SOCAR discovered 10 billion cub.m. of gas on Bulla Deniz field

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has evaluated the natural gas resources, which were discovered during drilling of the exploration well No 90 on the Bulla Deniz field, at 10 billion cub.m., SOCAR Senior Vice President Khoshbakht Yusifzada told journalists yesterday.

He said productivity of the deep-lying beds (about 6000 meters) turned out to be very high.
Yusifzada explained that SOCAR plans to build a new production platform to develop deep-lying gas resources on the Bulla-Deniz field. “It will be built not far from the old one, which has caught fire recently. We will drill operation wells on the new platform,” said SOCAR’s Senior Vice President.
As far as the well, which was saved after the accident, is concerned, Yusifzada said it is already in operation and its daily production rate is 1.2-1.3 million cub.m. of gas and 200 tons of condensate.
The production rate of this well is higher, than that of the first operation well of SOCAR, which was put into operation on Umid field (1 million cub.m.)
* In November 2012 SOCAR started exploration drilling from the stationary platform on the Bulla Deniz field to discover gas. On August 17, 2013 the gas started flowing on the depth of 5868 meters, which caused fire. The fire was extinguished on October 23, 2013. The sea depth on the point of drilling was 26.5 meters.
Bulla-Deniz gas condensate field was discovered in 1975. Since that time 11 million tons of condensate and 62 billion cub.m. of gas has been extracted.—0—
