
SOCAR put into operation new horizontal well in Caspian sea
SOCAR has put into operation the first horizontal well on the shallow section of Guneshli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
SOCAR reported that the daily production rate of the well is 260 tons of oil and 20,000 cub.m. of gas.
The shallow section of Guneshli field is operated by 28 May Oil and Gas Production company, which is controlled by Azneft. The field is being operated since the early 1980s.—0—

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
