Next year, the approved state program may expand the scope of electronic payments in Azerbaijan (2013 - 2017 years)
Speaking to reporters in Parliament, first deputy chairman of the Central Bank Alim Guliyev, said suggestions on the draft document were made by more than 20 state and government agencies, which gives hope for the approval of the program by the end of this - by the beginning of next year.
We have the potential to raise the additional non-cash payments to the level of the Baltic countries. Today, the share of cards in the calculation is 3%, which is a cause for concern, said the banker.
According to him, the said program aims to improve the existing legal framework, institutional development of payment systems, strengthening the capacity of electronic payment systems, the active development of cashless payments in the regions.
The Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank touched on topics such as the issue of new banknotes of 200 and 500 manats, and this innovation is not associated with the devaluation, or with inflation. It will happen, but the timing of the treatment is not clear.
Speaking of social mortgage, he expressed confidence that the government will support the initiative of the Central Bank that increased the maximum mortgage bracket from 35 to 50 thousand manats. - 17D -

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
