The list of medical institutions for organ transplantation has been updated

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan has approved amendments to the list of specialized medical institutions authorized to perform donor organ transplants. The changes, guided by the eighth paragraph of Article 119 of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, were announced in resolutions No. 337 and No. 338, signed by Prime Minister Ali Asadov.

The first resolution, No. 337, updates the "list of specialized medical institutions performing Donor organ transplants," originally approved in August 2021 under decree No. 234. The amendment adds the "Yeni Klinika" public legal entity to the list, specifically authorizing it to perform liver and kidney transplants.

The second resolution, No. 338, modifies the "list of medical institutions carrying out the collection, preparation, storage, transportation, import, and export of Donor organs," also approved in August 2021 under decree No. 235. Similar to the first resolution, this amendment includes the "Yeni Klinika" public legal entity, allowing it to handle liver and kidney donor organs.

These updates reflect Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to enhance its healthcare infrastructure and ensure that specialized medical services are accessible to its citizens. The inclusion of "Yeni Klinika" is expected to increase the capacity and efficiency of organ transplant services within the country.

Prime Minister Asadov's decisions, dated July 13, 2024, highlight the government's commitment to improving medical care and addressing the critical needs of patients requiring organ transplants. The legislative changes are part of broader healthcare reforms aimed at modernizing medical services and facilities across Azerbaijan.
