The share of food in consumption is reduced
For the 11 months it took 55.7% of food spending in shops. According to estimates of the State Statistics Committee, in comparison with the same period in 2011 the share of food in consumption fell by 3.9 percentage points.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in 1993, spending on the purchase of food rose sharply from 53.3% to 70.7%. This was the period when Azerbaijan was in active military operations against the Armenian aggression in Nagorno-Karabakh. For many years (1994-2005 years) ratio spending on food and non-food products ranged 70-75% and 30-25%. According to international experts, this indicates a low standard of living of the population. In 2006-2010 the share of food in expenditure on the purchase has remained at 64-63%. In 2011, this figure dropped to 59.5%.
Note that according to the SSC of Azerbaijan in January-November 2012 the population spent on goods 15.4 billion manat, which is 9.4% more than in the comparable period of 2011. The costs for the purchase of non-food items for the period increased 19.9%, while the purchase of food by the population cost only 2.4% higher. - 08B-
