October 9 - World Post Day. In his message on the occasion of the Director-General of the Universal Postal Union, Bashar Hussain called on the government to use the potential of postal services to provide social and economic services to citizens and businesses. This is stated in the report of the UN.
To date, there are more than 600,000 post offices. Mail is available to every citizen regardless of what position he occupies in society.
According to the Universal Postal Union, in 2012 the postal service delivered 350 billion letters and more than 6 billion parcels. Moreover, they were treated with millions of financial transactions.
In each country, postal services play a vital role in the exchange of information and goods. The basic service - written correspondence, remains an important part of the activities address. The share of letters fall an average of 45 % of the income -mail.
However, with the development of the Internet amounts of traditional correspondence gradually reduced , forcing the national postal service - a new look at his work.
Postal services around the world are diversifying their products and services. With the development of e-commerce , they take the place of delivery service providers , which customers prefer when ordering goods over the Internet.
" In this ever- changing world of e-mail services remain key mediators in national and international trade ", - said the head of the Universal Postal Union.
According to him, in recent years, there has been increase in demand for postal and financial services. Soon revenue from such services will average more than 20 % of the income of the mail.

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
