Developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Poland in the gas sector has become one of the topics of discussion during a meeting of foreign ministers of both countries, Elmar Mammadyarov and Radoslaw Sikorski, in Baku on Wednesday, during a press conference. According to Sikorski, Poland is looking for alternative supply routes and to diversify sources of supply for the purchase of gas from Russia
The countries of the Visegrad Group, currently chaired by Poland, and include Bulgaria and Romania can become a consumer of Azerbaijani gas, he said.
Mammadyarov, asking the question on agreements signed between Azerbaijan and Turkey on the construction of the Transanatoliy pipeline (TANAP), a pipeline will be launched in 2018, and deliver gas to the borders of the EU.
Possible options for Azerbaijani gas pumped through the Transandriatic pipeline, could be destinations to Italy, and NabuccoWest, delivering gas to Austria, Mamedyarov said.
Currently, the interested oil and gas companies are discussing the choice of one of these routes. Mammadyarov said that the discovery of new gas fields in Azerbaijan allows to increase gas exports to Europe. –06С--
