Turkey will build a new port in Turkmenistan
Talks between the Turkmen President Berdimuhamedov and Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayip Erdogan, took place on Friday in the city of Turkmenbashi. On conclusion of the talks the parties participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of a new international sea port of Turkmenbashi.
According to the Turkmen media, in their speeches the two leaders noted that the new port on the Caspian Sea will be an important part of modern transportation infrastructure that will enhance economic cooperation between Asia and Europe.
The project involves the construction of a new port ferry, passenger and container terminals. The complex will include a general loading terminal, bulk cargo terminal, as well as plant construction and repair of ships. The total length of the mooring line will be 3,607 meters.
The construction period will last 48 months. The tender for the construction has won the Turkish company «Gap Inşaat». Nothing is reported about the cost of the project.-02D-

Azerbaijan’s imports of animal and vegetable fats and oils climbed 23.9% by weight and 16.2% by value from January to September 2024, official data revealed. Despite the uptick in volume, the import cost of these products saw a decrease compared to the same period last year, with the cost per ton of vegetable oil falling by 6.1% to $1,199.6 in 2024, down from $1,278.6 in 2023.
