
Turkish companies to deliver 80% of pipes for TANAP
The contracts with six Turkish and one Chinese companies were signed in Ankara, Turkey, yesterday as a part of construction of the trans-Anadolu (TANAP) gas pipeline.
The consortium of Mannesmann-Noksel-Erciyas companies, the consortium of Umran-Emek companies, Toscelik Profil ve Sac Endustrisi company and the Chinese contractor Baosteel Europe have won the bids for the pipe delivery.
Turkish Premier Ahmad Davutoglu, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev have attended the signing ceremony.
1.2 million tons of steel pipes will be laid to build 1800-km-long TANAP gas pipeline. 80% of pipes will be delivered by 6 Turkish companies. 400,000 tons of pipes will be delivered by the consortiums of Borusan Mannessmann, Noksel Celik and Erciyas Celik companies.
According to the contract conditions, the steel pipes must be delivered to the customer – TANAP A.S. - within 24 months.
SOCAR reported that TANAP will be put into operation in 2018. At first it will be used to deliver 6 billion cub.m. of Azerbaijani gas to the Turkish market and then 10 billion cub.m. of transit gas to Europe. This will most likely happen in early 2020.—0—
