Volume of Iron and Steel Industry Exceeded $ 500 Million
In 2014, the production of iron and steel industry amounted to 305.4 million AZN and the finished steel products were 107 600 000 manat, respectively, 11% and 6.2% more than in the previous year. Experts believe that the sale includes a huge amount of “unofficially produced” local iron and steel products.
According to the State Statistics Committee, last year the volume of production of steel castings was 326.8 thousand tons, which is 39% more than in 2013. The annual capacity of only one company (LLC Baku Steel Company) is 1.1 million tons. Last year, the plant increased its capacity by 42% and started to offer the market not only rebar, but also various steel products (rods, channels, angles, etc.).
In 2014 the volume of production of reinforcement increased by 2.9% to 248.7 thousand tons. Average monthly production was 20.7 thousand tons. It is not known whether the statistical report takes into account the production of steel and rebar in Sumgait Technology Park, which started their production last year. It should be noted that in 2012 the volume of rebar increased by 38.5% to 244.8 thousand tons.
Last year, the production of steel pipes amounted to 33.7 thousand tons, down by 44.5%, although there officially act at least three pipe plants.
According to the State Customs Committee, last year Azerbaijan exported aluminum worth $ 87.6 million (+ 4.8%). The Committee has not reported the amount of aluminum produced. --08D
