Western oil and gas corporations try to return to Iran
The US oil companies would like to return to Iran and for this purpose they planned to meet with the Iranian Oil Minister Bidjan Zanganekh in New York at the end of September, Reuters reported quoting its own sources.
“We are ready to the talks, Iran has a huge potential,” top manager of a big US oil company told Reuters on condition of anonymity. “As soon as sanctions are lifted, we will be interested in investing capital, but conditions of the contracts must be attractive,” he said.
According to the agency, Iranian Oil Minister was going to visit new York together with Iranian President Hasan Rouhani, but cancelled his trip at the last minute. The source said that the leaders of the US and European companies will look for new possibilities to meet with the leaders of the Iranian oil industry on the neutral territory.
The US and European companies have refused to comment on this issue to Reuters agency. “There is no embargo on the negotiations,” top manager of the European oil companies told on condition of anonymity.
On October 5, 2013 Iranian Oil Minister Bidjan Namdar Zanganekh said that Tehran will try to increase oil production up to 4 million barrels a day and added that share occupied by the country at the market is more important than oil price. Zanganekh also said that the Oil Ministry has been helping the Iranian Foreign Minister to achieve lifting of the sanctions.
Zanganekh also added that Iran does not support the production sharing agreements (PSA) and would like to conclude more efficient contracts.—0—
