Why did volume of oil shipped by Azerbaijan from Novorossiysk drop in January?
In January 2013 State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Department of Marketing and Economic Operations shipped 2,629 tons of crude oil from the Novorossiysk port. In January 2012 this index totaled 79,591 tons.
A source from the Department told Turan that information disseminated by some media that export of Azerbaijani oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline dropped by 30 times is not true to the facts. In its reports the Department does not mention transportation of oil via the pipelines, but shipment of oil from the ports. SOCAR web site posts information about the shipped volume.
"In January 2013 we chartered one tanker for 85,000 tons. However, because of bad weather the tanker was loaded only on the last day of January. The loading continued in early February as well. Therefore, the port papers had the figure of 2,629 tons in January," explained SOCAR's representative.
He said despite a short of term of shipment, in February the volume of shipment will be higher, than previously.
During 2012 SOCAR has shipped 2,064,000 tons of oil from the Novorossiysk port, up 76,000 tons against 2011.
