The U.S. economy expanded by 2.8% in the second quarter on an annualized basis, according to a report from the country's Ministry of Commerce, which provided preliminary data. Analysts on average predicted an increase of 2%, according to Trading Economics. The GDP growth rate increased significantly compared to the first quarter, when it amounted to 1.4%.
