In two days, it will be 30 years since the signing of the "Contract of the Century" - the production sharing agreement (PSA) for the deepwater Caspian fields of "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli". The contract was initially signed for 30 years. However, on September 14, 2017, it was extended until 2050. Production of the first oil began in early November 1997.

A joint communiqué was signed on September 16 by the energy ministers of the Turkic Council (TC) in Bishkek, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy reported. Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, along with his counterparts from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, expressed support in the communiqué for the creation of a TC Energy Coordination Committee, a Regional Technology and "Green" Initiatives Center, and "green" energy corridor projects.
