Baku joins global mediation system to support investment

European Union has included a reference to Azerbaijan in the explanatory materials to its 20th package of sanctions against Russia, reads the documents published on Thursday.

The Council of the European Union has approved its twentieth package of sanctions against Russia, comprising around 120 measures aimed at further pressuring key sectors of the economy supporting Moscow’s military actions against Ukraine.

In Baku on Thursday, the discussion was less about current oil flows than about their future geography. The II Oil Trade and Transport Forum “Caspian and Central Asia,” held on April 23, evolved into a conversation about risks and vulnerabilities in the global energy system rather than the familiar issues of production and pricing.
