EU–Azerbaijan Relations Enter New Phase as Costa Prepares for Baku Talks

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday that Tehran would not attack neighboring countries unless they were involved in attacks against Iran, seeking to calm regional tensions after U.S. and Israeli air strikes and a growing diplomatic dispute with Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is preparing to begin production of natural gas from deep reservoirs in the Azəri-Çıraq-Günəşli (ACG) offshore oilfields in the Caspian Sea, marking a new phase in the development of one of the country’s most important energy assets.

Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved new regulations governing the special use of water resources, establishing legal categories for water extraction, industrial use and wastewater discharge as authorities tighten oversight of the country’s water resources.

Azerbaijan said on Thursday it had thwarted a series of planned attacks linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), targeting energy infrastructure, diplomatic facilities and religious sites, in what authorities described as a major counter-terrorism operation amid heightened regional tensions.
