Rising Trade and Energy Links Drive Azerbaijan–Austria Economic Dialogue

Azerbaijan has approved new rules aimed at simplifying air transport procedures, a move officials say is designed to modernize administrative processes, expand digital management and align the country’s civil aviation system with international standards.

The Southern Gas Corridor regained strategic prominence on Tuesday as ministers gathered in Baku against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf, highlighting Europe’s renewed focus on pipeline supplies as an alternative to liquefied natural gas (LNG) vulnerable to geopolitical risks.

Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has amended a series of regulations to implement a 2025 presidential decree aimed at ensuring the functioning of the State Protection Service, replacing references to the Presidential Security Service across multiple legal acts and repealing one earlier decision.

On March 3, the annual report of Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) was presented to the Milli Majlis. The document was devoted to a broad range of humanitarian and social issues, including the protection of human rights and freedoms, proposals for improving legislation, social rights, statistics on individual appeals, and the protection of the rights of Azerbaijanis living abroad.
