Taxpayer base grows 5.1% year on year, individuals dominate

In January–March 2026, retail trade networks in Azerbaijan sold goods to consumers totaling 15 billion 927.3 million manats, including 8 billion 774.9 million manats in food products, beverages and tobacco, and 7 billion 152.4 million manats in non-food goods.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Russia have escalated again following a series of court rulings in Russia and ongoing legal proceedings in Baku, amid an unresolved dispute over the 2024 plane crash and reciprocal arrests.

Azerbaijan produced 6.6 million tons of oil (49 million barrels) and 12.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas in January–March 2026, the Energy Ministry said.

Azerbaijan’s state auditors have reduced the scale of identified budget violations over the past year, but a growing concentration of problems in core fiscal processes highlights persistent structural weaknesses in public finance management.
