Number of Victims of Falling Crane in Mecca Increases to 107
At least 65 people were killed at a crane collapse in the main mosque in Mecca, while more than 150 people, according to recent data, were wounded. Now Saudi Arabia is being visited by pilgrims from around the world before going to Hajj.
By the morning of September 12, it became known about 107 killed in the collapse of the construction crane in the world's largest Masjid al-Haram, while the number of the wounded has risen to 238 people, the Ministry of Civil Defense of Saudi Arabia stated.
It is possible that the number of the victims and the wounded will be even greater. Rescuers work at the scene, BBC reports.
Turan was told in the Office of Caucasus Muslims that among the victims and the wounded there were no pilgrims from Azerbaijan. They began to arrive for Hajj on 11 September and are currently in Medina.

At least 65 people died in the fall of a crane at the main mosque of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, Al Arabiya reported citing a representative of civil defense. According to recent data, 154 people were injured.
The cause of the collapse, according to preliminary data, was a strong wind, said the broadcaster.
Al-Haram (the Sacred Mosque) located in Mecca is the main and largest mosque in the world. In the courtyard of the mosque is the main shrine of Islam, Kaaba.
Pilgrims from the Muslim world are coming to holy Mecca for Hajj, which will be held later in September.
Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca is the most massive religious event.
Over 300 people were killed in a stampede during Hajj in 2006. Since then, the Saudi authorities have been working to expand opportunities for pilgrims and improve the transport situation in order to prevent such cases. -0-
