President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated on May 28 during a meeting with residents of the village of Boyuk Galaderezi in the Shusha district that Azerbaijan had strengthened its economic, military and international positions during the years of conflict with Armenia and achieved a “complete victory” in the Second Karabakh War.

May 28 is celebrated in Azerbaijan as Independence Day, associated with the proclamation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, which existed until April 1920.
