The media of Azerbaijan focus on the observance of the tenth anniversary of the April battles of 2016. It is noted that they marked the beginning of a turning point in the Karabakh conflict, and the local successes of the Azerbaijani army became a precursor to the full restoration of the country’s territorial integrity.

The key theme of the media agenda is the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis, marking the 108th anniversary of the tragic events of the spring of 1918. On March 31 in Baku, detachments of the Armenian party Dashnaktsutyun, supported by the Bolsheviks, carried out mass killings of the civilian population, killing thousands of people and destroying mosques, schools, and homes.

During the period under review, Azerbaijan’s media agenda was shaped by a combination of domestic infrastructure challenges and external geopolitical factors linked to developments around Iran. The central focus was on the consequences of heavy rainfall that caused widespread flooding, as well as Azerbaijan’s role as a humanitarian and logistical hub amid regional instability. At the same time, media attention was directed toward oil price dynamics and structural weaknesses in certain sectors of the economy.

During the period under review, an increased role of the Russian factor in Azerbaijan’s media agenda became evident.
