A number of organizations supporting a single list of political prisoners grows
Public Alliance "Azerbaijan has no political prisoners" issued a statement in support of a single list of political prisoners. The statement authors argue that the list reflects the real picture, and it has been prepared on the basis of the criteria set forth in PACE Resolution on October 3, 2012 N 1900. This list includes 98 political prisoners and prisoners of conscience.
"Unfortunately, Azerbaijan is becoming one of the most authoritarian countries in the world on the number of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience," reads the statement. The Alliance continues to collect information on criminal cases of little-known political prisoners. Later, this information will be provided to the Working Group to prepare a single list of political prisoners. Alliance also calls for the fight for the early release of political prisoners, and calls on the authorities to stop the repression against activists. -16D04-
