The main ideologue of the authorities, Ali Hasanov, today hinted at the possibility of resumption of U.S. National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Azerbaijan.
"During the meetings held with representatives of NDI, certain conditions were agreed," he told reporters, without specifying what exactly was agreed. He further said that certain legal aspects relating to the activities of NGOs in Azerbaijan were brought to the attention of the American side.
"Under these provisions of the law, any American NGO or other organization of the kind can operate," he said.
Recall that the NDI officials were accused of illegal funding of youth organizations that allegedly prepared a "color revolution" through social networks.
After that, NDI was outlawed in Azerbaijan. But the leadership of NDI and official Washington categorically rejected the accusations.
From the words of Ali Hasanov, it can be concluded that NDI was once again asked not to grant opposition organizations, or decide questions about the support of various projects, with the consent of official Baku.
In turn, sources in Washington told Turan that no agreement about the future of NDI was achieved. -16D-
