Allahshukur Pashazadeh Meets with President of Georgia and Speaker of Georgian Parliament
Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, met with President Georgi Margvelashvili, as well as Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze, during his visit to Georgia.
As reported by Sputnik Georgia with reference to the press service of the country's President, at the meeting with Margvelashvili Sheikh Pashazadeh got acquainted with the projects implemented for the Azerbaijani part of the population of Georgia with the financing of the Presidential Reserve Fund.
The need for greater connection of the Azerbaijani population to the political, cultural and social life of Georgia was also noted. In Georgia, there are a number of programs aimed at including ethnic Azerbaijanis who live compactly in the region of Kvemo Kartli, in the public life. In addition, the residents of the region are given the opportunity to get higher education under a special program that also provides for an intensive study of the Georgian language.
The head of the Caucasus Muslims was also met by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze. Sheikh Pashazadeh noted the role of the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia in deepening cooperation between the Georgian and Azerbaijani peoples and stressed that he arrived in Georgia with his family, as he considers this country friendly, the message on Kobakhidze’s page in the Facebook social network says.
“The Azerbaijanis are very fond of Georgia and wish it all the best,” said Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazadeh. As for the challenges in the world, he noted that all conflicts should be resolved in accordance with international norms, and that more attention should be paid to the discussion of the problem of radicalism and terrorism. In turn, Kobakhidze said that for peace and stability in the region it is important to deepen relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan. He thanked the head of the Caucasus Muslims for his contribution to peace in the region. The Caucasus Muslims Office is the highest spiritual and administrative body of Muslims in the South Caucasus, located in Baku. The department was established on April 14, 1944.
It should be noted that the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office arrived in Georgia to visit Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. During the visit, he also intends to meet with the Azerbaijani community. –0----
