Andrzej Kasprzyk: We will continue to monitor on the front line
Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk made a statement in connection with the aggravation of tension on the contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
The statement expressed concern at reports of incidents along the front lines.
"Every accident is a tragedy for the families and other people involved. OSCE Chairman and co-chairs expressed their attitude to this in a statement on August 2. In accordance with my mandate, I will continue to work closely with the parties, including at the highest level in order to help them to de-escalate the situation. My team and I will continue our monitoring activities, which, in cooperation with the parties were last held on August 1," the statement said.
During each monitoring OSCE representatives receive information on violations of the ceasefire, as well as watch the situation from a certain place. "We also provide an opportunity for local commanders in matters of mutual interest and promote détente," continued Kasprzyk.
Reports on the results of the monitoring shall be submitted to the Office of the Chairman and members of the OSCE Minsk Group. Reports about the events are also presented in the relevant OSCE structures. "We do not comment publicly monitoring activities and do not talk about their findings. The source of any information of this nature is not we," the statement said. -06D-
